Description

Verdient Foods requires a Lab Technician as a team member to be an intrinsic part on the commissioning and implementation of protocols.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team from the ground up on the creation of protocols, learning and implementing new technologies.

Responsibilities
Log-in, organize, store, distribute, and dispose of samples
Perform sampling of raw materials, finished product, environmental and shelf-life in accordance to standards
Create and perform microbiology lab preparation procedures according for environmental and food microbiology samples.
Operate, maintain, and calibrate lab equipment (moisture meters, scales, dockage, testers, protein testers).
Perform analyses such as moisture, protein, dockage, test weight, mycotoxins, microbiological and other.
Cleaning of work areas  
Create and follow protocols for sampling, following standards and any other client specific specs.
Assist in preparing on-site final analysis reports
Maintaining inventory of reagents and chemicals and order as required.
Requirements.
Diploma in Bioscience, life sciences or related field
1 -- 2 years of experience in a laboratory or Agricultural/Food setting is an asset
New grads encourage to apply.
Knowledge of GMP, GLP, aseptic techniques, and dilutions
Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions.
Candidates must be proficient in MS office
Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well with others & independently.
Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
Works well under pressure.
Fast Learner
Ability to assess and initiate things independently:
Extended hours and shift work may be required.
