Description

As a temporary member of the Canola Development Team, you will be responsible for completing seasonal tasks relating to the setup of contra-season nursery programs and harvest/cleanup of summer nursery programs. This position is seasonal, starting in August and terminating October 31, with possibility for extension depending on business needs. Multiple positions are available.
Located in Saskatoon, SK and reporting to the oilseeds breeding technical staff, you will be responsible for completing day to day tasks relating to field nursery projects.
You will be responsible for the following duties:
Providing assistance with tasks relating to the setup of contra-season nurseries, which may include:
Allocating seed to nursery programs
Seed treatment

Providing assistance with tasks relating to the harvest and cleanup of field nurseries, which may include:
Operating a small plot combine
Bagging seed samples harvested by a small plot combine
Organization and/or cleaning of small plot nursery samples
Hand-threshing plants
Cleanup of small plot field sites
Fall land preparations as required

Assisting other related programs as required.

Required:
Currently enrolled in or completed an undergraduate degree in Agriculture or a related natural science program.
Punctual, reliable, and able to work outdoors.
A high level of attention to detail resulting in consistent outcomes.
Proven problem-solving abilities in team and individual settings.
Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
Willingness to learn and apply new information practically.
Valid Class 5 drivers license.  
Preferred:
Small plot field trial experience and/or agricultural or farm experience is an asset, but not required.
Mechanical aptitude with farm machinery is an asset, but not required.
