Job Description: THE INFECTION CONTROL PRACTITIONER (ICP) FORMULATES STRATEGIES FOR THE PREVENTION, CONTROL AND SURVEILLANCE OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES, WHICH ARE IMPLEMENTED THROUGH COLLABORATION WITH THE INFECTION CONTROL COMMITTEE. THE ICP INTERPRETS THEM FOR EMPLOYEES, VISITORS, AND CLIENTS OF ACUTE CARE, LONG TERM CARE FACILITIES AND HOME CARE WITHIN THE PRINCE ALBERT PARKLAND HEALTH REGION IN ORDER TO CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR WELL BEING.  THE ICP IS RESPONSIBLE ADMINISTRATIVELY TO THE VICE PRESIDENT OF QUALITY MANAGEMENT.  THE ICP SERVES AS THE INFECTION CONTROL PROGRAM MANAGER PROVIDING CONSULTATION TO ALL PAPHR DEPARTMENTS AND FACILITIES  THE ICP PROVIDES ADVICE TO THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR INFECTION CONTROL IN EACH FACILITY AND PINELAND HOME CARE. OF 15 FACILITIES, 3 HAVE AN ACUTE CARE COMPONENT, 12 HAVE A LONG-TERM CARE COMPONENT. REGULAR INTERACTION WITH THE CONTACTS IS NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT RELEVANT INFECTION CONTROL PRACTICES PERTAINING TO EACH FACILITY.
Experience
2 YEARS RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 4 year undergraduate degree required in a healthcare, nursing, public health, or microbiology field. Advance degree preferred, but not required.
2. Minimum of 2 years experience working in a supervised Infection Control program
3. Must demonstrate proficient problem solving, data management, verbal and written communication, facilitation and project management skills.
4. Experience in research, education, guideline development, evaluation and monitoring is required.
5. Instructor/speaker/committee leader experience within professional organizations is a plus.
6. Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
7. Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.
