The Mechanical Engineer will provide site-based design and support for short to long term construction mechanical matters.
The Mechanical Engineer will demonstrate DMCs core values of: Zero Harm, Win-Win Client Relationships, People Development and Innovation.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supports site on making certain that designs are built to approved plans and that safe construction practices are followed.
2. Designing to applicable standards, quantifying time and materials needed, developing schedules, and issuing stamped IFC drawings for mechanical works
3. Coordinates between site and head office engineering groups: examine and approve structural design constructability and scheduling for planned future work.
4. Ensures that mechanical components are assembled per design, with any discrepancies itemized and mitigation methods approved.
5. Inspects materials, products, equipment, standards and designs to detect defects, malfunction, or possible constructability issues.
6. Advises supervision of any remedial work which may be necessary to bring mechanical installations into compliance with project specifications.
7. Participates in accident / incident investigations as directed by supervision / safety department.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of seven (7) years mining, shaft, or heavy industrial design experience
Eligible for membership in APEGS
Shaft construction and / or mining design experience is considered an asset.
