Early childhood educators plan, organize and implement programs for children between the ages of infancy and 12 years. Early childhood educator assistants provide care for infants and preschool- to school-age children under the guidance of early childhood educators. Early childhood educators and assistants lead children in activities to stimulate and develop their intellectual, physical and emotional growth and ensure their security and well-being.
Duties include:
- ensures quality care for the children of the centre at all times
- supervises children to ensure safe and appropriate play
- communicates with children on a regular basis on centre rules, routines, etc.
- encourages children to express themselves and to participate in daily activities that cover all areas of development
- communicates with families and staff daily on current and upcoming events
- maintains a clean and healthy workplace
- assists with housekeeping duties, maintaining daycare supplies and equipment
- being a good role model
- teaching and assisting good hygiene
- helps prepare and serve snacks/meals
Qualifications:
- First Aid/CPR "C" (must be current)
- Criminal Record Check Vulnerable Sector
- ECE Certification, or must be willing to obtain
