We are seeking a Public Works Labourer for the Department of Transportation & Environment team. Duties are related to the maintenance of the transportation & utility distribution networks. For complete job details, visit www.kindersley.ca/jobs.
Requirements
High School or GED
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Able to operate heavy equipment
Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods & the tools required in various Public Works processes
Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines & tools, including their uses, repair & maintenance
Ability to work independently & complete daily activities according to schedule
Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting & handling procedures
Ability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs), walk & stand for long periods of time & perform strenuous labour under adverse field conditions
Preference for the following:
Standard First Aid/CPR & WHMIS
3-5 years experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator in a municipal or comparable setting
Mechanical & automotive repair experience

Duties:
Traffic Control: the maintenance of street signs, traffic control signs & traffic signals
Street Maintenance: patching, crack sealing, line marking, & sweeping streets, etc.
Drainage: clearing debris & ice blockages from catch basins & removing weeds & debris from ditches
Mosquito Control
Heavy equipment operation at Kindersley Waste & Recycle Centre
Maintain sewage lagoon, pump house & lift stations in the sewage system
Maintain sewage collection mains & house service connections
Maintain water distribution system & house service connections
Maintain, repair & install curb stops, valves & fire hydrants
Open & close graves
