Description

We are currently looking for someone who works independently, works well with other, is responsible, patient, has the ability to problem solve and has great decision making skills. Creativity would be beneficial. Applicant will be working with people with disabilities in the Community. The required hours of work would be determined closer to the start date. Experience is not required but would be beneficial. A drivers license would also be beneficial to get to and from the job. I am currently looking for someone to work along side an individual in Weyburn. The hours will be during the day 2 days a week for 3 hours at a time.

A job coach's job is to work one on one with the individual to learn the necessary tasks of the job until the individual and the job coach feel the individual is ready to work independently with all tasks. It is then the job coach's responsibility to work themselves out of the job. A job coach bridges the gap between training for a job and being comfortable with a job. Aside from providing one to one support a job coach can help other people in the workplace become natural supports. An individual may need support for a few weeks or they may need support for 3 or 4 months. Each individual is different in the level of support needed.

You can expect a job coach to:
* Identify tasks pertaining to the position
* Sort tasks in priority
* Identify areas for accommodation
* Assist only when needed and begin training task-by task
* Orient the individual to the workplace(with the employer if possible):
* The physical layout (bathroom, lunchroom, office, etc.)
* Introduction to co-workers, customers and employers
* Review of the safety rules and company rules

A Police Record Check with Vulnerable section will be required when applicant is chosen. Please feel free to send in your application even if you are in another area of Saskatchewan in case a position becomes available in your area.
