Qualifications:
- Must bosses a Bachelor of Indian Social Work / Bachelor of Social Work with 5 years experience or equivalent in providing Child and Family Services (child protection and children in care)
- Previous supervisory and management experience preferred
- Must be able to understand, develop and work within First Nations Child Welfare policies, standards and procedures
- Must be computer literate and excellent in oral and written communication
- Knowledge of community based approach with emphasis on preventative programming
- Working knowledge of FSIN Indian and Child Welfare and Family Support Act and Saskatchewan Child and Family Services Act
- Knowledge of Child Abuse Protocols and Criminal Code Act of Canada
- Must be able to develop and implement training strategies
- Must submit a satisfactory Police Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Check upon submission of application
- Must possess Valid Class 5 Driver's License (with no restrictions)
- Must be willing to travel on short notice
- Knowledge of Dene culture and language preferred
- Must maintain a healthy life style
Responsibilities:
- Reports to Executive Director of the Athabasca Denesuline Child and Family Services
- Provides supervision to Child Family Service Workers and On-Call Workers
- Provides support, assistance and on the job training to Child Family Service Workers
- Ensures accurate and confidential documentation on all individual cases
- Oversees the case transfer process with Ministry of Social Services
- Ensures that all range of Child and Family Services are delivered in accordance with FSIN and Provincial Acts
-Assists in the overall development of child and family service programs
