Reporting directly to the Wellness Director; the Youth Liaison Worker will provide youth support and navigate them through mental health and social services systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal communications skills, the ability to communicate effectively with youth and adults, and possess knowledge of and have an understanding of the health and social issues of First Nations people. The Youth Liaison Worker will be expected to serve as a role model and to abide by the standards of professionalism.
Qualifications:
* Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a social science and related experience; must be registered or eligible to register with professional licensing body such as SASW or FNWACCB
* Knowledge in both mental health and addictions services
* Knowledge of non-insured health services for clients
* Knowledge of wrap-around principles
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to function as an effective team member within a medical setting
* Ability to work independently, in a self-motivated manner
* Ability to work flexible hours
* Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of traditional aboriginal values, beliefs, language, and healing approaches
* Demonstrate a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations cultures
* Ability to adhere to confidentiality guidelines
* Proficiency in Microsoft office including and database management
* Must have a valid driver's license
* Must provide a criminal record with vulnerable sector
