The SchoolBased Therapist (on site) must have training and experience in counseling for children who have experienced trauma. This person must have a degree in education, preferably a masters degree in educational counseling. The person will be hired for 50-60% of the school week, which will be 3 out of 5 days because we are a small school.
The applicant will work with children:
-Kindergarten to grade 6 who need counseling for trauma through play therapy or art therapy
-work with children who have concerns with behavior
-work collaboratively with the special education teacher and school team
-meet with parents and possibly home visits
-to implement strategies with anger management
-help students with anxiety, depression, and any other mental disorders that affect their learning.
Requirements:
-Saskatchewan Professional A teachers certificate or Social Work degree
-Working within a school is considered an asset
-Excellent verbal, written and technological communications skills required.
-Experience with reporting is considered an asset
-Criminal Record Check (CPIC) and a Vulnerable Sector Check must be provided
-Knowledge and understanding of First Nations Communities, Schools and their culture
