Description

The K-9 Literacy Facilitator is a specialist providing professional support to school staff focused on best practices. This individual plays a key role in identifying the effective strategies for classroom applications, including the needs of special education students. The K-9 Literacy Facilitator assists school administrators in identifying solutions and practices to strengthen school-wide practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
    Leads the implementation and monitoring of key early literacy strategies for the T4EA, including Early Years Evaluation (EYE) assessments, and Confident Learners early literacy programming.
    Identifies, designs and effectively incorporates literacy plans and programs into the learning environment
    Collaborates with School Success Planning team colleagues, teachers and other instructional staff to research, design, develop and implement literacy strategies aligned to curricula and the mandate of T4EA.
    Models lessons and strategies that emphasize best practices in literacy, with specific emphasis on First Nations approaches (e.g. incorporation of indigenous and local knowledge, intergenerational learning, community building)
    Designs, develops and facilitates staff development, professional development and in-services in the area of literacy
    Supports T4EA colleagues, teachers and school staff in the selection and implementation of resources that are culturally relevant, responsive and aligned to curricula
    Models effective stewardship of resources and materials, and adheres to and communicates copyright as well as other laws and guidelines pertaining to the distribution and ethical use of all resources
    Must hold a valid Saskatchewan teaching certificate, or be eligible to apply for a Saskatchewan teaching certificate, along with several years of classroom teaching experience.
