Reporting directly to the Manager, Engineering on site, the primary role of the Shaft Technician is to provide the necessary survey control for the construction and development of all facilities, infrastructure, and excavations, both on the surface and underground, and to complete tasks, assignments and requests from Shaft Superintendent.
The Shaft Technician will demonstrate DMCs core values of: Zero Harm, Win-Win Client Relationships, People Development and Innovation.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Measure, record and report shaft advance as required, on a per shift basis.
Advise supervision of any remedial work which may be necessary to bring lining installations into compliance with project specifications.
Measure, record and report physical and environmental conditions within the shaft environment. This will include, but not be limited to, wall and ambient air temperatures, including thermocouple readings projected into the frozen ground sections, measure excavation and lining convergence with extensometer system and monitor pressure cell readings to evaluate lithological loads as they bear on the lining.
Support supervision and crews to promote safe working conditions and to work in accordance with the site rules.
Provide updated as built and planning drawings to all required parties, as required.
Participate in accident / incident investigations as directed by supervision / safety department.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Bachelors Degree in Mining Engineering or Diploma in Mining Engineering Technology
Minimum 3 years' experience working in an underground operations is a requirement
Extensive knowledge and experience of AutoCAD
Advanced surveying experience is a strong asset
Has to be able to work as part of a project planning team
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of Projects and/or Project Management experience is a strong asset
