Reporting to the Chief Maintenance Engineer (Mine), the Electrical Engineer (Automation) will work as part of the automation team to assist with the design, implementation, and testing of new instrumentation and controls on underground mining machines. The Electrical Engineer will provide leadership and guidance to the departments.
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to:
Design and development of PLC & HMI sofware
Testing and integration of hardware and software components with existing control systems
Supporting R&D prototype development and test activities
Creation of turnover documentation to support maintenance and reliability of automation systems
The successful candidate must have attained a minimum of an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited university or college with at least 5 years experience. Experience in machinery controls/automation (Allen-Bradley) and network communications would be as asset. Effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or in a team structure are essential. The candidate must have a proven ability to lead and develop others by demonstrating superior skills in coaching and mentoring.
The successful candidate may be required to undergo a background check. All safety sensitive positions require a substance test in accordance with PotashCorp policy.
