The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the development, promotion, operations, and evaluation of the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, which provides free support to low-income individuals who require assistance preparing their annual CRA income tax forms. The position will oversee the recruitment, tax training, and scheduling of 40 volunteers and a Program Assistant. The position will integrate financial literacy workshops and a capacity building component into the existing program, while establishing and monitoring the tax clinic from March-May 2018. The Coordinator will oversee ongoing data collection of participant demographics and financial stats. The Program Coordinator will ensure a safe and welcoming space for participants at the tax clinic operating in the Riversdale neighbourhood.
Terms of Employment
* Contract Position
* Part time (30 hrs/wk) Dec 2017-Feb 2018; Full time (37.5 hours/wk) Mar-May 2018
* Mon-Fri, with occasional evening (Thurs) and weekend (some Saturdays) work
* NOTE: Schedule is approximate and will be finalised with the successful applicant.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Preferred degree or diploma in the area of human services and/or program coordination/ management. Equivalent knowledge and experience will be considered.
* Experience working in the community sector with diverse groups, including vulnerable populations
* Proven project management experience (budget, schedule/timeline, logistics, staff & volunteer management), including 2 years supervisory experience
* Multi-tasking, time management, analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills
* Highly developed interpersonal skills, including cross-cultural awareness and understanding
* Excellent written, verbal, presentation, listening, and communications skills
* Demonstrated ability to organize work and to work independently
