Description

Medical office assistants (MOA) perform administrative tasks and some medical duties while under the supervision of the physician. This includes answering phones and directing calls, booking and cancelling appointments, greeting patients, sorting and scanning of necessary documents, make phone calls and send faxes on behalf of the physician. Helping to make, manage, and organize the physicians schedule. MOA's are expected to have some patient contact including doing patient measurements (weight, height, blood pressures, etc), putting patients into rooms, and occasional assistance with office procedures. Performance of basic medical tasks including urine analysis, spot sugar testing, pregnancy testing, etc. The MOA will also ask as an office manager by ordering business/medical supplies and assessing the needs of the office to run smoothly. The function of an MOA is to run all parts of the physicians office to allow the physician to concentrate on seeing, evaluating, and treating patients.
