Description

Duties: Interpret work orders & technical manuals, keep equipment maintained, cleaned & lubricated, diagnose faults or malfunctions, adjust equipment & repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, test repaired equipment for proper performance & ensure that the work done meets manufacturers specifications & legislated regulations, write service reports.

-Truck & Transport Mechanics: maintain, repair & overhaul stationary or mobile internal combustion engines & components, commercial transport devices connected to or moved by a power unit such as converters, boosters, flat decks, dump trailers, towed on-highway & off-highway vehicles(trailers) on & off-highway motor vehicles(trucks) ground engaging equipment & components, earth moving equipment, tracked equipment(crawler tractors)rubber tired equipment(tractors)

-Working conditions: work environment varies considerably from one job to another. Work will be at shop, construction or industrial sites, sometimes outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Travel requirements & hours of work also vary.

-Personal Characteristics need the following: good vision, hearing & sense of smell to diagnose problems. Strength & stamina required to work with heavy equipment & work in cramped or awkward positions. Ability to work alone or as part of a team. Mechanical ability & an interest in all types of machinery & engines, electronics & precision equipment. Ability to think logically & keep up to date with changes to technology.

-They should enjoy doing precision work, solving problems and working with their hands.
