Porcupine Opportunities Program (POP), a non-profit organization that supports adults with intellectual and physical disabilities, is seeking a full time Production Supervisor for our wood workshop. The Production Supervisor will act as the lead hand in constructing and supervising the construction of workshop products including core boxes, and other wood products under the direction of the Production & Maintenance Manager.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter, with a "can-do" attitude who can effectively work along-side others while providing leadership and on-going mentoring and support to program participants and other staff. The individual will have experience working with wood products in a production environment, or equivalent experience and background. They will also have a demonstrated ability to identify and troubleshoot basic equipment problems. Experience in the operation of a forklift and/or loader is a significant asset.
Other requirements of the position include: skills and experience in managing and supporting others; strong communication skills, an ability to manage multiple tasks and issues; and a working knowledge of safe work practices in a production environment. Experience working with people with disabilities is a significant asset. A clean driving licence, a criminal record check, and a willingness to respond to emergencies are required.
