Job Description: With a focus on the early years (0 to 6) the regional KidsFirst Community Developer assists individuals, families and communities primarily residing in the rural SHR to gain the power, insight, and resources to make decisions and take action regarding their well-being. The Community Developer takes initiative to establish, develop and sustain citizen groups and actions to improve health. This position supports regional, community, and intersectoral partners to work collaboratively.  Research and program evaluation should be incorporated into development and must be meaningful and promote positive change.

Embracing the principles of Primary Health, the KidsFirst Community Developer uses the assessment of population health status and determinants and the development of SHR strategies and policy directions to reduce health inequities and improve overall health of the target population.  The position facilitates the development of community health partners and advocacy strategies among the Health Region, key external agencies and community organizations.  

Reporting to the Manager of KidsFirst Saskatoon, this position will also link with members of the Primary Health Development Team of Primary Health.  The incumbent will work together within a broad interdisciplinary team with limited day to day supervision.  There will also be accountability to groups they are working with. Specific accountabilities exist between KidsFirst and the province (Ministry of Education) as funder.  The selected candidate will have the responsibility of working with the provincial body overseeing the regional KidsFirst community development work.
