The Lighthouse Supported Living is an emergency shelter, supported living and affordable housing provider offering a range of services to people experiencing homelessness and poverty to help them overcome barriers and achieve self-sufficiency. Together with a co-worker, the Stabilization Shelter Support Worker provides emergency shelter services to manageably intoxicated individuals. In conjunction with the case manager for the unit, staff will support service users in addressing their health, housing, addiction issues and any issues which perpetuate or increase the risk of homelessness. Staff must be able to think critically in a timely manner, work as a team, resolve conflict and show compassion and empathy towards clients. Knowledge and understanding of poverty, homelessness, oppression, addiction and mental illness is required.
