Description

As the Superintendent, you will assist with Project Management by ensuring that the project is run in accordance with the goals and policies of the Company.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads by example by being a safety champion and promotes safe work performance.
- Be fully committed and actively participate in the project's safety programs.
- Complete all tasks assigned on the site safety compliance matrix.
- Utilize the 5 point safety system as specified within the site safety management system.
- Manage shaft crews to safely meet the shaft development targets.
- Ensure all project personnel are adequately trained in their job responsibilities, understands the company, client policies and work in accordance with local safety legislation.
- Allocate the required manpower and equipment as needed to meet targets.
- Ensure crews are trained in equipment operation.
- Confirm crews receive a proper lineup each shift and this lineup is recorded in the shift log book.
- Responsible to ensure that each shift records their shift results in the shift log book and that oncoming shift personnel are made aware of any factor known at the end of the shift.
- Ensure adequate measures are taken to deal with any known hazards that may arise.
- Ensure that any equipment that is rendered unsafe by virtue of a defect, or a machine of which any protection system is inoperative, is not used.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
1. Minimum of 10 years experience in a Supervisory role within the Mining industry.
2. Minimum of 10 years experience in shaft sinking.
3. Strong oral and written communication skills.
4. Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office.
