The Home School Liaison will:
- Maintains and improve communication between the school and the parents/caregivers of students of Piyesiw Awasis School.
- Promotes parental/caregiver engagement and involvement in the education and welfare of their child(ren).
- Works with K-12 students and their families so they can participate fully in home and school educational activities in order to success.
- Promotes good attendance of students at school to enable them to learn effectively.
- Works with parents and stakeholders in accessing resources, services and programs.
- Communicates to the parents/caregivers of each child, as required by the Principal, a report on the student(s) progress, conduct and attendance.
- Meets regularly and cooperate with Principal/Vice Principal, Special Education Sitoskakew, Positive Behavior Support Teacher, Kaptikona Sitoskakew and other professional staff (as required) to communicate updates, visits, actions, decisions, etc.
- Conducts individualized assessments of students. Establishes action plans and implement goals with students.
- Determines need for appropriate training/support sessions.
- Keeps confidential school records.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Certificate in Social Work, Practitioners Training and/or related Fields or suitable combination of education, training and experience
- Minimum 2 years? experience in the area of child care
- Knowledge of Indian Child Care Issues
- knowledgeable in addictions, domestic and family violence
- Valid driver's license and access to a dependable vehicle
- Knowledge of Cree language and culture would be an asset
- Ability to promote community wellness
