Description

For more than 10 years, AREVA has been developing and field testing the Surface Access Borehole Resource Extraction (SABRE) mining method and technology  a high pressure water jet-boring system from surface.  In the last few years, major tooling and methodology upgrades have been engineered and are ready for field testing in 2019, a 3-year test program in excess of $30M.

Reporting to the General Manager, Mine Projects, this position is responsible for the following duties:

-Lead and develop an interdisciplinary project team by overseeing and managing the preparation and coordination of all aspects of engineering, procurement and execution of a safe, environmentally responsible, operationally efficient field-testing campaign of the SABRE mining method
-Accountable for ensuring that deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget
-Establish and implement a work organization, recruit and prepare project team for field tests (drilling/mining contractors, supervisory, technical and labour manpower, training requirements)
-Conduct or coordinate technical and operational reviews to ensure:
o designs meet technical specifications;
o adherence to industry and internal standards;
o incorporation of operational experience/insight;
o adherence to ALARA principles with respect to radiation exposures;
o required regulatory and QA/QC requirements are met

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
-Bachelors degree in engineering and eligible for registration as a professional engineer in Saskatchewan. Mechanical engineering degree preferred
-Minimum of 15 years of experience with at least 5 years in a mining project, R&D or drilling environment

Work Location & Schedule:  
-Saskatoon Head Office
-Significant time will be spent at McClean Lake or other remote Project/Mine/Mill sites during the field-testing months (primarily summer), where required
