Reporting to the Language Services Manager, the CNC Team Lead is responsible for the overall operations of the CNC including administration and supervision, ensuring quality care to children participating in CNC with a child-centered approach that promotes the development of newcomer children.
- Provide leadership to the CNC Program
- Develop relevant materials specific to the operation of the CNC program
- Plan and deliver appropriate activities for children
- Manage CNC files, enrollment, occupancy and attendance and reports
- Develop staffing plans and collect timesheets of CNC staff
- Identify child care needs
- Ensure appropriate materials and equipment; complete space safety checklists, and seek corrective action as needed
- Foster teamwork
- Provide general administrative support to the CNC team as needed
- Participate in staff meetings; contributes to committees, events, and initiatives deemed appropriate by the management
The CNC Team Lead will fulfill other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:
Education:
- Early Childhood Education III (ECE 3) or equivalent as assessed by provincial regulators
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
Experience:
- Two years experience working in the child care field
- Understanding and awareness of settlement issues and the concerns of newcomer children and parents
- Familiarity with the settlement process and knowledge of local resources available to immigrants
- Demonstrated computer proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook are required.
- A Criminal Record Check including the section relating to working with vulnerable persons in good standing order is required
- The ability to speak another language is an asset
