Description

The Teacher will report to the Education Services Coordinator with overall accountability to the Director of Operations.
The primary aim of the Goose Lake Education Centre is to provide an education service on the Sakimay First Nation in which the youth can grow in the knowledge, love and practice of the First Nation Culture, in addition to the regular education program prescribed by the Saskatchewan Department of Education (Sask-Ed).  Sask-Ed and Sakimay First Nations depends entirely upon their Educational Staff for the accomplishment of their goals.  
- Possess a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Saskatchewan Professional "A" Teaching Certificate with School Administration duties and responsibilities
- Early childhood development classes, behavior management, and/or special education training would be an asset.
- Must have collaborative and positive classroom management skills;
- Willing to work in co-operation with Teachers Aide and/or Saulteaux Language Instructor.
- Possess excellent communication skills both orally and written to deal effectively with Chief & Council, fellow employees, band membership, the general public
- Possess strong organizational, interpersonal skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Previous experience teaching aboriginal students would be an asset
- Knowledge of Saulteaux Language, Culture and Traditions would be an asset.
- Have the ability to work effectively with other educational personnel and commitment to the community.
- Knowledge of curriculum programming and implementation of skills would be an asset.
- Applicants must submit a criminal record check with the vulnerable sector check
- Possess a valid Drivers license and a reliable vehicle
- Willing to submit a pre-employment drug test.
