The Senior Finance Manager main responsibilities include:
Supervise accounting within the finance department including accounts payable, receivable, utilities, and general ledger functions;
Prepare financial reports for Senior Management along with Chief and Council;
Maintain the yearly budget and provide timely comparison reports to Department Heads;
Reconcile and prepare data for the Auditors along with assisting in preparing financial statements and supporting schedules to the audited statements;
Act as primary liaison with auditors;
Prepare Federal reporting requirements and grant applications;
Review assessment reports and assessment roll;
Ensure accurate and timely updates of all tangible assets and oversee asset management;
Oversee accounting software functionality and implement new processes as required;
Ensure internal controls are properly executed and continually look for improvements;
Assist in management of the First Nations investments;
Assist in other duties in the finance department and develop procedures for advancement;
Assist the Director of Operations in projects, and perform other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will possess:
Bachelors Degree in Commerce or Business Administration with a major in Accounting;
5 years of accounting and/or audit experience (Preferably in a First Nations organization);
Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and financial reporting standards in accordance with Canadian public sector accounting standards;
Computer software application knowledge with high keyboarding efficiency;
Computer software experience with Microsoft Office;
Well organized and able to prioritize tasks in a deadline-orientated position;
Team player with excellent communication and customer service skills;
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities;
Able to resolve problems with several variables in a dynamic setting.
