Job Purpose:
The Kitchen Manager position will ensure the efficient day to day operation of Living Skies Retreat & Conference Centre kitchen and dining room operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Delight our Guests by providing quality and timely prepared foods
Follow sanitation guidelines
Practice cost-cutting measures
Pitch in and work as part of a team
Stock and rotate food
Prepare and cook food items
Track food quality
Handle special circumstances
Communicate effectively with co-workers and managers
Assist in the training of new employees
Perform additional tasks requested by your manager
Instruct cooks and other workers in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food.
Order or requisition food and other supplies needed to ensure efficient operation
Meet with customers to discuss menus for special occasions such as weddings, parties, and banquet.
Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparations
Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
Prepare and cook foods of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions
Collaborate with other personnel to plan and develop recipes and menus, taking into account such factors as seasonal availability of ingredients and the likely number of clients.
Planning and pricing menus Meet with Guest Services Coordinator to review upcoming retreats/conferences meal requirements
Check the quantity and quality of received products.
Qualifications
High School Diploma
Food Handler Certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Team Player
Enjoys cooking for large or small groups
Ability to work with others and the willingness to improve knowledge
Required to exercise some judgment and decision making based on established regulations or norms.
