The Public Works & Utilities Department provides an essential service for the Town of Wadena. This department manages our water & wastewater facilities, municipal infrastructure, vehicles and equipment. The testing and tracking, maintenance, servicing and repair of these are of the utmost importance to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our residents and visitors.
This posting is for a position within the Public Works & Utilities Department. This full-time permanent position includes a variety of water and waste water treatment, and other tasks. Preference will be given to anyone with the qualifications to fill the position at Certified PW I or II level which is at the higher end of the pay scale. However, the position is open for a regular Level I or II position within the department which starts on the lower end of the pay scale. Preference will be given within the uncertified Level I or II applicants, to those who are willing to obtain training and complete certification.
Qualifications Include:
1.Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent education, a valid driver's license (driver's abstract will be required), a great work ethic and good public relations skills.
2.Previous experience in water and wastewater treatment and distribution is an asset.
3.Previous experience with operating, servicing and repairing machinery and equipment also an asset.
4.Certified Level I, must have and maintain a valid Level I Certification in Water and Wastewater with the OCB. Certified Level II must have and maintain a valid Level II Certification in Water and Wastewater with the OCB.
5.The following certifications are required, and must be willing to obtain: WHMIS, valid CPR and First Aid Certificate, Confined Space Entry.
