Description

DSI's business includes manufacturing/supply of ground support equipment for mining industries.  Its systems are known worldwide for innovation, quality & reliability. We are seeking dependable and enthusiastic individuals to join our Production team.  You will assist machine operators manufacturing raw materials into finished goods using numerous automated machines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Helping machine operators by supplying or holding materials or tools & cleaning work areas &equipment
-Lifting raw materials & finished products, packaging items & preparing them for shipment.
-Loading/unloading items from machines, conveyors & conveyances.
-Sorting products according to weight, grade, size & composition of materials.
-Placing products in equipment or on work surfaces for further processing, inspecting or wrapping.
-Removing products, machine attachments & waste material from machines.
-Moving finished products, raw materials, tools or equipment between storage & work areas of plant & warehouse by hand or using hand trucks or powered-lift trucks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Grade 12 Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education & experience.
-Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
-Communication & listening skills to communicate effectively using the spoken word in English.
-Ability to read & understand basic instructions provided in written or diagram form.
-Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply & divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions & decimals.
-Ability to accurately read/understand a tape measure (metric/standard)
-Ability to identify problems & seek help in solving them.
-Understanding of common workplace safety and environment practices.
-Ability to meet attendance/punctuality standards
-Ability to work shift-work.
-Physical ability to continually handle objects weighing up to 20 and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
-Previous related experience & ability to operate forklift would be an asset.
