The Family Support Worker position is a high energy position responsible for providing community based social services to families and individuals. Responsible to provide crisis counselling and referrals for guests and to advocate on behalf of families and individuals that utilize the Friendship Inn's services. Make connections with and between local community groups and social services agencies, provide support to low income families and groups at the Friendship Inn.
Responsible for programming and group activities.
Over see all emergency supplies.
Supervise practicum students.
Additional Skills
- Supervise other social workers, paid para-professional staff, student trainees and volunteers
Specific Skills
- Act as an advocate for client groups in the community
- Refer clients to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment and other services
- Provide counsel and therapy to help clients resolve social and personal problems
