Reporting to the Regional Controller and the Supervisor for Western Canada Shared Services, the Payroll Clerk is responsible for the collection, verification and processing of hourly payroll information. This role will also be required to determine pay and benefits entitlement for both union and non-union hourly employees within each region and each business units.
Duties & Responsibilities
-Accurate and timely processing of weekly timesheets
-Verify and process hourly payroll for all Regions within Western Canada
-Processing of payroll payments via direct deposit and/or cheques
-Process new hires, re-hires and terminations including all related paperwork
-Prepare and process payroll related areas such as taxes, garnishees, vacation pay, workers compensation, T4s, records of employment, union remittances, pension and other employee union deductions
-Administer benefits and provincial medical for hourly non-union employees where applicable
-Respond to internal and external hourly payroll-related inquiries
-Reconciliation as required
-Payroll data entry and filing
-Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
Education & Skill Requirements
-Completion of a college program or courses in payroll or related experience is required
-3-5 years of payroll experience preferably with unionized payroll exposure
-Completed Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is considered an asset
-Above average skills in Microsoft Office Applications
-JD Edward experience would be considered an asset
-Demonstrated ability to work well in a deadline driven environment
