We are a 3000 acre family grain farm looking for a seasonal full time farm hand. We are looking for dedicated, self motivated worker with farming background and knowledge of modern grain farm machinery to join our hard-working team. Work will primarily be done between April and November but there is opportunity for year-round employment for the right candidate. Wage will be between $20-$25/hour depending on experience. Performance bonuses will also be available.
Work hours will vary on the season and weather conditions. Busy seasons such as May (seeding) and September (harvest) could be 12-16 hours per day while remainder of the year could 6-8 hours per day depending on the work load/weather. Our farm is located near Lake Lenore and land is all within a 10-mile radius of farm. We have a modern rental property in town where you can stay if desired.
Qualification/Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of hands on farm experience within recent 5 years
- Familiar with GPS systems
- Farming machinery operating experience required
- Class 5 drivers licence required, Class 1A or willingness to obtain Class 1A preferred
- Understanding of long farm hours in high season, grain farm practice and expectations
- Carpentry experience also an asset as many projects are being planned within next few years
- Heavy machinery mechanic experience also an asset
Duties:
- Plant, fertilize, cultivate, harrow, and harvest crops
- Operating farming equipment (tractor, rock picker, combine, swather, tandem)
- Sprayer experience an asset but not required
- Maintain farm machinery and equipment
- Cleaning and maintenance of equipment, yard and buildings as needed
- General farm labour
- Bin erection, site preparation, concrete work as required
- Operate other heavy equipment (gravel truck, payloader, backhoe, skid steer)
- Perform other duties as need arises
