Description

The Child Support Worker is responsible on a 24 hour basis to provide a safe/nurturing environment in a residential setting to ensure the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs of the children are met. The Child Support Worker will ensure the care and welfare of the children in Sunshine Haven by enforcing policies, the rules and regulations, and by monitoring the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility. The Child Support Worker is directly accoutable to the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

This position requires a person: who has the ability to work alone/independently and as part of a team; demonstrates respect for all clients and co-workers as well as their decisions and choices; who sets effective limits in performing duties; who works to empower children; who can provide clear information, education, boundaries, safety and access to resources; who knows how to care for themselves appropriately; and who is a healthy role model for children as well as the following:

- Early childhood certificate or education in the basic human services field or three (3) years experience in the social, health or human service field.
- Good oral and written communication and interpersonal relation skills.
- Certification in first aid and CPR.
- Out of Home Care Training
- Safe Food Handling.
- Administration of Medicine Training.
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Knowledge of childhood growth, development, behavior and community resources.
- Ability to interact positively with children on an emotional, recreational, social and cultural basis.
- Reliable and responsible in order to provide a safe and helping environment to children.
- Valid Saskatchewan driver's license.
- Ability to pass security clearances as required.
