Description

Summary:

The Youth Worker is responsible on a 24 hour basis to provide a safe and nurturing environment in a residential setting to ensure the physical, emotional, psychological needs of five (5) female youth between the ages of 12 - 17 years old. The Youth Worker will ensure the care and welfare of the youth in the homes by enforcing operational policies and procedures and house rules and regulations. The Youth Worker is responsible for the home maintenance and cleanliness. The Youth Worker is directly accountable to the Program Director.

Qualifications:

This position requires a person who leads by example. Demonstrates respect for all clients and co-workers as well as their decisions and choices; works to empower youth; provides clear information, education, boundaries, safety and access to resources and is a healthy role model as well as the following:

- Minimum one (1) year certificate in the basic human services field and /or (3) years experience in the social, health or human service field.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal relation skills.
- Certificate in First Aid/CPR
- Knowledge of adolescent growth, development and behavior
- Knowledge of community resources
- Ability to interact positively with youth on an emotional, recreational, social and cultural basis
- Must be reliable and responsible
- Must be self-confident and positive in order to engage youth and their families in the relationship process
- Computer skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to deal with high stress situations
- Must be flexible
- Must be a team player
- Must be empathetic and compassionate in difficult situations
- Must be able to conduct business in a professional manner at all times
- Must hold and maintain a valid Saskatchewan driver's license and dependable vehicle
- Must provide security clearances prior to offer of employment
