Description

Are you looking for a great opportunity to connect people to nature, and help them make memories in one of our Provincial Parks? If so, the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport is looking for you to lead the Visitor Experience and Public Programming branch.

The position reports to the Executive Director, Visitor Experiences, and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of public and educational programming for Saskatchewan Provincial Parks, which attracts more 100,000 visitors annually. Related responsibilities for this include directing and overseeing research, policies, procedures, training, program development and evaluation.

The Director of Visitor Experience and Public Programming oversees cultural resources management and protection in all park lands. They are also responsible for planning, development and maintenance of trails and signage within the provincial park system.

This position is the leader of the visitor experience within SaskParks, including a multi-year research strategy to inform decision-making, continuous improvement work and service standards. The position is also responsible for a multi-year visitor experience strategy and execution plan.

The position is responsible for a capital budget for trail development and management and cultural asset maintenance and management.
The Director works with the Manager of the unit to provide leadership to program and interpretive staff in provincial parks around the province.

The knowledge and abilities for this position is typically gained through a university degree in marketing, education or public administration and several years of related experience.
