The Provincial Emergency Communications Centre operates 24/7/365 days a year. It is one of three 911 Public Safety Answering points that provides a critical service to the Province. We are seeking a career minded individual to join our Out of Scope Supervision team. The successful candidate will supervise an assigned platoon, & will work rotational shift work. They will participate in the creation of solutions concerning the development, implementation & operation of our Centre. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to act independently and decisively, work effectively within the overall management framework, effectively coach, mentor & support emergency communications staff, have a good knowledge of the public safety system, have effective management & organizational skills; & have the ability to lead & work within a team environment.
Some of the duties include:
Day-to-day supervision & direction of operations staff;
Assist with operations as required; Research, develop, recommend & implement policy & procedures;
Establish, monitor, evaluate & report on PECC objectives, key operations & human resource issues;
Participate in the evaluation process of Communication Operators;
Assists PECC management by attending meetings, conferences & other activities related to the effective operation of the center.
Requirements:
3 years combined education & experience in supervising &/or experience working in the Public Safety Industry;
High School Diploma or Canadian equivalent minimum(preferably to include postsecondary training); Clear Criminal Records Check (basic & vulnerability) during the hiring process
Certified hearing test during the hiring process;
Possess the ability to effectively communicate in English, both written & verbal;
Proven leadership skills & abilities;
positive interpersonal skills & the ability to adapt & lead change;
Valid Drivers License.
