Description

DMC Mining is currently looking for an Intermediate Structural Engineer. This role is a defined term contract position.

The Intermediate Structural Engineer will provide site-based design and support for short to long term construction structural matters. The Intermediate Structural Engineer will be able to quickly mitigate design discrepancies and/or constructability problems with practical solutions, be able to work as a team member with Jansen site and Vaughan-based engineering, developing and reviewing designs ahead of schedule for future project phases, and will provide support to ensure works have been built and constructed per design and quality/specifications have been met with any discrepancies reported and mitigated.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Support site on making certain that designs are built to approved plans and that safe construction practices are followed.
2. Designing to applicable standards, quantifying time and materials needed, developing schedules, and issuing stamped IFC drawings for structural works
3. Coordinate between site and head office engineering groups: examine and approve structural design constructability and scheduling for planned future work.
4. Ensure that structural components are assembled per design, with any discrepancies itemized and mitigation methods approved.
5. Inspect materials, products, equipment, standards and designs to detect defects, malfunction, or possible constructability issues.
6. Advise supervision of any remedial work which may be necessary to bring structural installations into compliance with project specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
-Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering with experience in shaft sinking or heavy industrial design.
-Eligible for membership in APEGS
-Shaft construction and / or mining design experience is considered an asset.
