WSP is currently seeking a Materials Supervisor to join our Transportation group, located at our Swift Current, Saskatchewan office. Reporting to the Area Manager, this position will be responsible for carrying out field and laboratory testing of concrete, asphalt, soils, and aggregates in accordance with CSA and ASTM test procedures, and providing support to the engineering team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision of Materials Lab and overall activities of materials testing technicians;
Conduct maintenance on laboratory equipment and ensure all required testing equipment is available and in good working order;
Maintain records, and complete regular calibration testing in compliance with requirements for certification with Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories (CCIL);
Perform aggregate testing in accordance with procedures outlined in Contract Specifications, CSA and ASTM;
Coordinate field and lab testing to be performed by other technicians;
Conduct routine in-field asphalt and soil compaction testing;
Pursue CCIL certification for the Swift Current laboratory where applicable;
Assist the engineering team with surveying, drafting and site inspections;
Prepare laboratory test reports, and field review reports;
Assist with Geotechnical Investigations;
Provide estimates to clients for testing services;
Distribute testing results and on-going liaison with clients;
Perform concrete testing in the field and the laboratory;
Follow and abide by WSPs health and safety policy; and
Other duties as assigned/required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution is preferred;
3+ years of relevant experience in materials testing, quality assurance and control and construction monitoring;
Good coordination and technical writing skills;
Valid drivers license; and
Excellent communication, both written and verbal.
