Porcupine Opportunities Program (POP), a non-profit organization that supports adults with intellectual and physical disabilities, is seeking Production Workers for our wood workshop. The Production workers will construct a variety of wood products under the direction of the Production Supervisor and/or Production & Maintenance Manager.
The successful candidates will be self-starters with "can do" attitudes who can effectively work along-side others, including POP's participants. Ideally, the individuals will have experience working with wood products in a production environment, an ability to troubleshoot basic equipment problems, and experience in operation of a forklift and/or loader, however; POP is willing to train individuals that demonstrate a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
The successful individuals will be physically fit and able to work on cement throughout their work day. They must also be able to move and lift wood products, throughout their shift, and in a fast paced work environment. Other requirements of the position include: skills and experience in managing and supporting others; strong communication skills; an ability to manage multiple tasks and issues; and a working knowledge of safe work practices in a production environment. Experience working with people experiencing disabilities is a significant asset. A clean drivers license and a criminal record check for vulnerable sectors is required.
