We are looking for a Health and Safety Officer to coordinate implementation of the Safety program in the field. The successful candidate will possess a strong commitment to continuous improvement and participate in the development of policies, and systems.
Responsibilities:
-Support operations in meeting all Health, Safety and Environment policy commitments
-Provide interpretation and guidance applying Act and Regulation legislation
-Assist in job planning, creating hazard assessments and providing safety resource support for operations to meet all job specific safety requirements
-Conduct safety inspections, audits and develop corrective action plans with management
-Participate in Incident Investigations and Return to Work programs as required
-Monitor compliance with legislated and internal requirements, track performance measures, interpret results and coach workers on how to improve HS&E performance
-Assess training needs and provide or coordinate job specific safety training
-Manage and track safety documentation
-Demonstrate behaviors and attitudes to develop a strong corporate safety culture
-Maintain knowledge of current HS&E strategies, trends and technologies to influence the adoption of new standards when applicable
Qualifications:
-Diploma or NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) Certification.
-Above-average interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
-Must be able to work as part of a team
-Current valid Drivers Licence and Drivers Abstract required.
-Ability to travel to and from various worksites in Western Canada.
-Thorough knowledge of industrial construction practices, techniques and equipment as well as local Acts, Policies, Regulations, Codes and Practices.
-Possess superior organizational and problem-solving skills.
-Working knowledge of Microsoft programs specifically, word & excel.
-Familiarity with ISNetworld program
