Description

The Lifeguard/Instructor maintains the safety of pool patrons, providing necessary supervision and protection for swimmers, in accordance with recognized Lifeguard procedures.

The Lifeguard will:
Educate the public regarding policies and procedures related to patron safety.
Monitor patron activities in the swimming pools to prevent accidents and injuries.
Enforce facility rules to maintain safety and proper use of facility and equipment.
Maintain the order and proper conduct of people using the facility.
React to emergent situations; perform first aid as required.
Maintain public and staff safety.
Perform daily maintenance duties.

The Instructor will:
Instruct swimmers in the Red Cross Swim program; teach swim skills, strokes and water safety.
Provide a safe and learning-friendly environment for swimmers.
Work with swimmers of all ages and abilities.
Develop strategies to communicate with swimmers of all ages.
Create enjoyable learning situations and experiences.
Create lessons plans for each swim lesson.
Maintain the attention of the children.
Enforce facility rules to maintain safety and proper use of facility and equipment.
React to emergent situations; perform first aid as required.
Perform daily pool maintenance duties.

This position involves the assignment of alternate duties on occasion.
