Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Councils (SRC) Environment Division is seeking a summer student to provide support with spatial and environmental data processing, data management and map design for its Environmental Remediation Business Unit. The Environmental GIS Technician will participate in Project CLEANS activities. This is a multi-year, multimillion-dollar project for the assessment and remediation of abandoned uranium mine sites in northern Saskatchewan.
Accountabilities
Perform GIS data formatting, clearing and processing
Prepare data for loading to geodatabase
Provide GIS support for environmental data management
Work in a team environment
Communicate effectively on technical and organizational issues
Qualifications
Knowledge of GIS at an advanced level
Knowledge of Esri ArcGIS environment
Understanding of different data formats, including GIS and non-GIS
Experience in spatial data management (including data collection, organization and quality control)
Experience in GIS support for environmental projects
Skills
GIS data processing and analysis
Environmental data management and collection
Geoprocessing (including scripting languages)
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a related post-secondary school program and returning to full-time studies in the fall.
