Main responsibilities:
- With the support of a Counsellor Coordinator, responsible to ensure campers recreational and social needs are positively and safely being met
Duties include:
- Work effectively within the program team and report to coordinators and medical team as required
- Promote camper choice, engagement, and adaptability when planning and implementing program area, campwide, and other camp activities
- Assist counsellors with camper personal care, dietary, and mobility needs as needed
- Perform inventory and administrative tasks as required by position
- Assist in maintaining a barrier free, clean, and safe camping facility
- Maintain an understanding of SaskAbilities policies and procedures as they apply to the position and attend required trainings
- Other duties as assigned by Camp Manager
Qualifications:
- Combination of work experience or education in recreation, health care, social work, education, or individuals experiencing disability
- Working at a summer camp or residential workplace considered an asset
- Valid Drivers licence
- Areas: A&C, Sports, Horseback Riding and Wagon, Rustics, Bus Driver, Boat Driver, Lifeguard
Professional Skills:
- Ability to positively interact and openly communicate with campers, staff and external contacts
- Ability to create a respectful environment working with people of varying abilities
- Strong organization and problem solving skills
Availability:
- Available to work mid-May to late August
- 12 hour shift schedule including some overnights during camp sessions
- Camp is located at Manitou Beach, SK
- Accommodations and meals are provided during camp sessions, all staff leave on days off
