Description

General Duties

The Prevention/Family Services Worker is responsible for coordination and providing a continuum of services to Deschambault Lake community in accordance with policies and as mandated by the Board of Directors by ensuring the following activities are administered.

a)    To develop prevention and educational programs in consultation with the Program Manager of Prevention Services.
b)    To facilitate an increase in community resources, promoting prevention and the healing process by providing an holistic approach to wellness programming to assist members in growth and positive development of self, family and community (i.e.) Medicine Wheel concept.
c)    To provide training to community members, staff, local committees and volunteers.
d)    To implement the Triple P Positive Parenting Program.
e)    To actively participate at the community interagency meetings.
f)    Providing a continuum of protection and family services for the children in care of the agency
g)    Providing on-going counseling and support services to children and families.

Qualifications
1.    BSW of BSIW or a certificate in social work with three years of related child and family services agency experience.
2.    Maturity and stability.
3.    Leads a healthy lifestyle.
4.    Commitment to working with families.
5.    Willingness to participate in on-going training.
6.    Willingness to learn and work with high risk and special needs children.
7.    Knowledge of Cree language, culture and the political and social objectives of PBCN First Nation.
8.    Persons of First Nation's Ancestry are encouraged to apply.
9.    Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
10.    *Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check*
