Description

The City of Swift Current is inviting applications for the position of Superintendent of Water Distribution & Waste Water Collection in the Infrastructure & Operations Department.  This is a permanent full-time position.

This position reports to the Manager of Public Works and is responsible for overseeing all day to day operations, with regards to equipment and personnel within the Waterworks Department.  This includes responsibility for construction, repair and maintenance of the Citys water distribution system, the rural water pipeline system and the sanitary sewage collection system.

Basic Requirements:
. Grade XII Diploma;
. Possession of, or ability to obtain the minimum required level of certification in Water Distribution and Collection as established by Provincial regulations (currently Level 3);
. Five to ten years progressive experience in municipal operations & infrastructure maintenance including supervisory experience;
. Experience and knowledge in operating related construction and maintenance equipment;
. Planning, scheduling, budgeting and project management experience;
. Strong interpersonal  and effective communication skills;
. Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Drivers License;
. Willingness to obtain a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check as we are a Youth Certified Employer; and
. Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

Desirable Requirements:
. Successful completion of post-secondary training in Civil Engineering Technology or a related technology course at a recognized Institute of Technology.
