Description

The Village of Windthorst is currently accepting applications to fill a Public Works / Utility Operator Assistant position. This position is a seasonal position with a minimum of 40 hours per week from April 1 to October 31st. Weather permitting, there is a possibility for additional hours from November 1 to March 31. This position has the potential to lead into full-time employment.

This position offers many unique opportunities to advance through multiple avenues, competitive wage schedules, and training opportunities. The municipality provides health, vision and dental benefits and contributes to the Municipal Employee Pension Plan.

Applicants must possess a minimum grade 12 education and a willingness to obtain water and waste water operator certificates plus other training and certificates needed to perform the various duties required by the job.   On the job training will be provided as required.

The job will require the successful applicant to operate water treatment and distribution systems, sewage treatment and collection facilities and take part in on-call rotation.

The Assistant will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks in the maintenance and operation of streets, vehicle and machinery maintenance, parks and recreation grounds, open spaces, public areas and properties. The Assistant would also be responsible for minor interior building maintenance such as painting, plumbing, carpentry and other trade work.
