Description

Primary Purpose and Accountabilities: Reporting to the Manager, Custodial Operations, the Assistant Manager, Custodial Operations is a technical and people leader responsible for providing leadership and direction to a group of custodial employees. They have technical knowledge of the work their employees perform and are aware of the potential issues associated with that work. Assistant Managers provide technical oversight, drive solution development, service delivery, and customer orientation; they are responsible for ensuring a safe and professional work environment which fosters the Services culture, mission and values.  Assistant Managers are responsible for the full employee life cycle, including the hiring, identification of training needs, performance management, and discipline. Assistant Managers ensure effective allocation of available resources and identify needs and opportunities in this regard through consistent review; this includes determining appropriate staffing levels, deployment across campus and shift schedules.

This position provides exceptional management of staff within the Custodial Operations team to ensure university buildings are properly cleaned and maintained in order to provide a safe and professional work and study environment that is conducive to and serves the needs of students, staff, faculty, and the public. Shift work may be required.
