Description

BASIC PURPOSE:  
To maintain, overhaul, recondition, repair and test equipment. Mainly this would be comprised of rolling stock such as graders, loaders, shovels, tractors, trucks, forklifts, wheeled and tracked vehicles of all types used in construction, manufacturing and highways.
DUTIES:
    Provide efficient, reliable and safe maintenance of equipment
    Perform preventative and running maintenance on rolling stock
    Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools
    Operate equipment for positioning and diagnosing purposes
    Consistently prioritize field and shop repairs and issues in conjunction with the Tier IV Supervisor
    Operate machines to diagnose defects and position machines for maintenance
    Inspect machines to diagnose defects, damage and excessive wear
    Some welding/cutting may be required (non-structural)
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
    Journeyman Mechanic (apprentices may be considered)
    Valid drivers license
    Extensive experience as a mechanic in the areas of diagnostic repair and maintenance of forklifts, vehicles and tractors (on and off road), including air brakes systems, power trains and electrical and hydraulic systems
    Experience maintaining a variety of different equipment
    Strong prioritization skills
    Good organizational and leadership skills
    Knowledge of safe work procedures and relevant occupational, safety, health and risk management policies and procedures
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    Able to work both independently and as part of a team
    Must be able to perform vehicle safety inspections
    Ability to work some weekends and overtime hours when required
