David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client, one of Saskatchewans most progressive commercial, industrial, retail and land sector developers to recruit for a Controller to support their innovative, dynamic and client focused property management and development business.
The Role:
Reporting to the owner, the Controller will assist with the management of and the full cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial, industrial, retail and land sector real estate properties, as well as holding company and long-term investments
Preparation and review of monthly cash flow projections for funding from cash distributions
Preparation and review of annual tenant reconciliations
Liaising with property managers and project managers regarding property operations and tenant activity to ensure the accuracy of monthly statements
Assist property managers and project managers with monthly variance analysis of revenue and expenses
Assist in the planning and preparation of annual property budgets, and preparation of quarterly reforecasts
Provide guidance and management on financial affairs and oversee partnerships where the client is either majority shareholder or minority shareholders
Undertake ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned
The Ideal Candidate:
CPA, CA or CMA designation
Minimum of 10 years of full cycle, industry-relevant accounting experience
Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field
Considerable experience supporting real estate transactions including acquisitions and associated project financing
Competency with various joint business arrangements (joint ventures, co-ownerships, etc.) and complex legal entity structures
Sound understanding of investment structures, tax planning and analysis
Advanced level MS Excel and MS Word skills with a solid working knowledge of industry relevant accounting software (Sage Timberline Office)
