David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has ongoing demands for Journeyman Machinists to support our diverse Saskatchewan client base.
The Role:
Set up and operate machine tools including Lathes, HBM, VBM lathes, milling machines, ID/OD grinders, planers and more
Manufacture and recondition component parts to customer, OEM and industry standards
Work within close tolerances to meet customer/contract specifications
Apply knowledge of qualities of metals and alloys being machined
Plan sequence of work operations and methods of set-up including methods of mounting, leveling, aligning, holding and fastening work.
Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints and sketches and perform precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping and fitting
Measure components, parts and raw materials with precision measuring instruments, gauges and tools
Perform bench work necessary to finish and fit parts to customer specifications
Maintain a safe, neat and orderly workstation
Maintain machine tools as required
The Ideal Candidate:
Completion of related apprenticeship program or equivalent training
Minimum of five years experience in a machine shop operating all types of conventional and CNC machine tools including the following; lathes, milling machines, boring machines and drills
Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints and apply knowledge of tool geometry, feeds, speeds and basic math skills
