Facility: Addictions Outreach Office
Job Description: Reporting to the Outreach Manager, this position has responsibility for providing direct nursing care to clients accessing mental health and addiction services care in a variety of community settings. They will act as part of multiple interdisciplinary teams providing services to marginalized, hard to serve, and complex clients in the Saskatoon Heath Region. The incumbent must be familiar with mental health disorders, substance abuse disorders, and withdrawal management strategies, as well as the provincial resources available to assist in identifying and accessing the most appropriate care plan for clients. The incumbent is responsible to triage and provide nursing support to clients with psychiatric, substance abuse, medical and detoxification issues in a variety of health care settings. The incumbent provides information/education to a wide variety of disciplines across the province utilizing the Motivational Assessment Process, Provincial Addiction Clinical Model, DSM- 4R and the Transtheoretical Model of Change to assist in the appropriate triaging of clients needing mental health and addiction services. The Community Mental Health and Addiction Nurse works within the community as well as at the Brief and Social Detox Programs, a 32 bed residential detox facility, and the Lighthouse.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA) or Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS)
Current CPR-C certification as required by the specific service
Experience
Three (3) years combined experience in mental health and addictions
